This is free to all BCS members , but the number of places is strictly limited to 30!
To book a place use the following link.

Do you think you have the skills to work as a white hat hacker?

Does the idea of penetration testing applications and infrastructure and learning the techniques for breaking into systems seem to be your ideal career?
If you've been working as a developer, in infrastructure or application support, and maybe already know the difference between nmap, metasploit and sql injection, then this could be the event for you!

We are running a one day overview of penetration testing, starting with how to develop a career in penetration testing, reviewing the methodology involved and getting close up with the tools used by professional ethical hackers. The event has hands on sessions with theory and labs. Make sure you bring your laptop! (Joining instructions will be provided on registration few days prior to the event).

Please note this opportunity is only open to a maximum of 30 attendees, and that we recommend only those who have a genuine interest in a penetration/ethical hacking/security testing career, and have experience of working with web applications, databases, and network protocols should register to leverage full value from the content.

April 5th 2014 - Pen Testing Training Day

Do you think you have the skills to work as a white hat hacker? Does the idea of penetration testing applications and infrastructure and learning the latest techniques for breaking into systems seem to be your ideal career? Are you able to describe complex technical issues to non-technical managerial staff without using complex technical terms? If you've been working as a developer, in infrastructure or application support, and maybe already know the difference between nmap, metasploit and sql injection, then this could be the event for you!
We're running a one day complete overview of penetration testing starting with how to develop a career in penetration testing, through the methodologies involved and how to be a professional, ethical, hacker to the common tools and techniques used. The afternoon session provides you with an opportunity to demonstrate your skills as you work in teams to hack into other team's systems and protect your own. Please note this opportunity is only open to a maximum of 30 BCS members, and that we recommend only those who have a genuine interest in a penetration testing career, and have experience of working with web applications, databases, and network protocols should register.

Survey: penetration testing day?

Posted on behalf of the Northampton Branch of the BCS.

Northampton BCS Group would like to run an all-day penetration testing day event at the University of Northampton
Start time at 09:30 and finish at ~17:00. The proposal at this stage is to run this during April (Saturday 5th April)

This will be a 'premium' paid for event with a slightly subsidised cost to BCS members

Estimated numbers around 30 to 50 attendees , with facilitators and  event co-ordinators.

The agenda is flexible but generally the morning session consists of;
  • Introduction to pen-testing/ethical hacking,
  • Breaking into the industry,
  • Methods,
  • Deep-dive into pen-testing process/phases, some examples.

The afternoon session consists of hands on examples and then Capture the Flag events with various teams. Finally a quick wrap-up and networking session at the end of the day.

Just to gauge numbers we have set-up a survey for users to register an interest.
